As a native of Salt Lake City, Utah I attended Utah State University in Commercial Art and Advertising, along with having a background as a Multi-Media Artist. I moved from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles, CA prior to Charlotte, NC.  When I moved to Charlotte, NC I started Creative Art by Susan Nuttall, a company specializing in commissioned paintings and custom murals.

As a full time artist I found no product on the market that pleased me to create the art that I envisioned. I set out and worked to perfect my own medium to help my pieces to have texture, hold their shape, be durable and stay true to color. I have been using this self created medium on and off in my studio art for the past 10 years. This in turn helped to further develop my personal artistic style and my love of working in 3D art, Heavy textured relief paintings and sculpture.

“I am more interested in the negative space then the positive, when carving a new piece art.”

This is a new art form for me, hand carving out my design and then oil painting the art work. The process has evolved greatly throughout the creation of this current series and will continue to evolve as I explore the varied meaning into my art.
